Yesterday, we delivered 4,000 local signatures plus another 8,000 from across the province to the provincial government. We held a press conference in front of the legislature, where the rain graciously let up for us and all the big media showed up for interviews. We are hoping that these 12,000 signatures will influence the 2008 Budget to be released in February. To top it off, we went to a Victoria City Council meeting last night and they unanimously endorsed the WE RIDE campaign. They have already asked for a 1 cent gas tax increase from the government and were pleased to see that we were keeping the momentum going on this issue. Yesterday was a BIG DAY for the transit campaign! But it's not over by any means. We will continue to collect signatures and then deliver them to the federal government as well. Also, watch for some cool transit-related events to be hosted in the near future!
